Step 1:

Pick a colorful designed duct tape; we used these adorable owls.  Using your precision knife and ruler, cut out two 10-inch strips.

Step 1

Step 2:

Overlap the two 10-inch strips to form a strip that is 3 inches wide.  Set this aside.

Step 2

Step 3.

Take your second design of duct tape and cut out an 8-inch strip.  Fold it in half lengthwise. It’s a little tricky but starting from the ends made it easier.

Step 3a

Step 4:

Using the same second design of duct tape, cut out a 40-inch strip.  Fold this in half lengthwise as well. This step took a lot of patience and steady hands.

Step 4

Step 5:

Take your piece of duct tape from step 2 and flip it over so that the adhesive side is now facing up.  Now take the short strap from step 3 and place in a “U” shape on the bottom of the duct take piece as shown.

Step 5

Step 6:

Do the same “U” shape alignment on the bottom of the duct tape with the long strap as well.  The two strap pieces to be level where they cross so that the water bottle sits firmly on both straps to form a holder.  Set aside.

Step 6

Step 7:

Repeat step 1 and 2 but instead of two 10-inch strips, you’ll need two 9-inch strips.   The overall piece should measure 9 x 3 inch. Place this piece over the 10 x 3 inch piece from step 6 starting in one corner.  You will end up with an excess 1 inch showing from the 10 x 3 piece.

Step 7a

Step 8:

Tape the ends of the strips together using the excess 1 inch section.  This trick makes sure your holder is one nice fluid piece. No extra tape needed to stitch it together.

Step 8

Step 9:

Use your compass to trace and your scissors to cut, respectively, a small circular piece to adhere the bottom straps of the holder together.  We made sure our cute owl was front and center.

Step 9a

Step 10:

Grab a nice cool water bottle and a good friend and go out on an adventure!  Have fun and stay hydrated!
