With summer fast approaching, it’s time for the students to relax and enjoy a bit. It’s also high time to get the house in order. Don’t wait for the next school year to start cleaning. The benefit of starting early with organizing is that you have minimal work to do when the entire household is cramming for back-to-school.

Doing so encourages everyone to keep the house tidy and organized at all times. This also gets everyone ready for summer and play so when school season rolls in, you don’t have panic.

Here are some of the things that you can do to get everything in order:

Clean the bedrooms, dorm rooms, and study room.

With the school year over, it’s time to clear out the bedrooms or dorm rooms. Get the clothes out for laundry and clean out every nook and cranny. It’s time to stow away the unnecessary items and decide whether you’re keeping or throwing them out.

Using the Marie Kondo method, make sure that you only keep items that are being regularly used or still spark joy. Shred old test papers and other files that won’t be needed for the next school year. Used notebooks and broken pens should be thrown out. Outgrown clothes and bags can be donated. Those that will be kept should be washed and organized accordingly.

Put things in their respective places.

Everything has its proper place. Sometimes, it’s easier said than done. Store pencils and pens in pencil cases. Use old jars as holders for supplies, such as rulers, scissors, highlighters, and other crafting needs. Use a card file box for files and documents that will be needed for back-to-school. Organize paperwork with file folders and label them. For notes on index cards that might be used again, keep them in index card cases. Small boxes for drawers are your friends in segregating and storing supplies.

Placing each and every item should be your goal for the entire house. This isn’t something that can only be done for study rooms. Home offices and the rest of the house can also use some love and proper arrangement. Make sure you have a place for everything in your house.

Use organizing hacks.

Organizing is not as difficult as it may seem. It’s all about sorting everything and putting them in their proper place. Add labels as this ensures that you don’t forget what goes into which box.

For your important documents, segregate them according to type. Use document cases to store different documents and label them accordingly. You can also do this for bills, letters, and other papers that have to be segregated and checked.

Keep your junk drawer in order by using drawer organizers and empty bottles to store random bits and pieces. You can further categorize them and store them accordingly.

It is never too early when it comes to keeping your home organized. Just when the school year comes to a close is often the perfect time to get everything in proper order. The earlier, the better so kids can go and start their summer without any hitches.
