EVENTS: Foothill Family – Beyond Backpacks for Brighter Futures

On July 26th, we had Laura and Brittany from Foothill Family (Pasadena, California) come visit our facility to pick up school supplies which we have donated for their Beyond Backpacks for Brighter Futures event. We have been partners with Foothill Family for years and we are very delighted to continue partnering with them for this Back to School season. Their Beyond Backpacks for Brighter Futures event will be held on July 30th and will have 50-70 volunteers who will be stuffing backpacks with these school supplies. These bags will then be distributed to their seven family centers which will then go directly into the hands of their clients and families.

We interviewed Laura and shared a few words with us,

“It’s much needed for these kids to enable them to go back to school in the Fall and be well equipped with the BAZIC supplies. We do go above and beyond and try to provide as much as we can to our families and clients. The supplies not only go through the back to school program, but they also last throughout the holidays as well, so we’re able to keep giving our clients and replenishing those backpacks and school supplies so we set these kids up for a successful year. We thank you so much BAZIC for your support year after year and we look forward to getting these supplies into the hands of our clients.”

Fast forward to July 30th. We had a few of our BAZIC Staff members come out and support the Beyond Backpacks for Brighter Futures event. It was a cloudy morning but that helped everyone get through the backpack stuffing event without feeling the heat from the sun. The event had stations with different school supplies and other items that would be fun for the kids – like kites and bookmarks. There were 2 other stations for coloring / writing letters to the kids and a potted plant making station for volunteers to bring home. The BAZIC Staff members helped set up then went through the backpack stuffing event – making rounds of filling the bags with these different items. Foothill Family‘s goal was to fill 500 backpacks and we were able to do it before 11am – the time the event was scheduled to end. It was great seeing the volunteers enjoy themselves and feel that they are making a difference to a child’s education.
