EVENTS: S.T.E.A.M Race to Space Reading Challenge

🚀 Reaching new flights! 🚀

This year, the Orange County Children’s Book Festival wanted to inspire students to get excited about S.T.E.A.M. Unfortunately due to the spread of COVID, OCCBF could not hold their annual in-person festival. Instead, they launched the first S.T.E.A.M Race to Space Reading Challenge! (In partnership with the Orange County Department of Education and 4SPACE Co.)

The challenged lasted from October 22 – November 12 and was open to all TK-12 Orange County students. This year’s 2021 Reading Challenge participants read 140,834 minutes and 150,837 pages! Amazing! We hope all the students enjoyed their reading.

As students participated in the challenge, they had a chance to win a variety of prizes including a tour at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, day pass to Discovery Cube, computer coding classes, tickets to Aquarium of the Pacific, Official Space Camp flight suit, or Zoom call with astronauts!

Along those amazing prizes, we also participated as one of the sponsors to donate 2 backpacks filled with school supplies insides – one for elementary school grade and the other for middle/high school grade.

Let’s congratulate one of our winners who won the elementary school backpack!

Awesome job Leah!
We hope you love and enjoy the awesome prize you won 😄

We are so thankful to be part of and sponsor part of the S.T.E.A.M Race to Space Reading Challenge. Thank you Orange County Children’s Book Festival for the opportunity to be part of this event!
