Sparkle Up Your Life

Sparkle Up Your Life

Whether you have kids or you’re a kid-at-heart, everyone loves glitter!  Sure, it gets everywhere.  Sure, you’ll find it in your hair, your carpet, and even in your shoe (how’d it get in there?) for days afterwards but still, you can’t deny that glitter adds a certain sparkle to your life that you never thought you needed.

We’ve thought up some fun crafts you can make to sparkle up your life.  For these different crafts, you’ll definitely need to stock up on your glitter and glue (or you could even get glitter glue!  Boom, mind blown!).  Make sure you have extra, cause you can never have too much glitter.

Now, let’s crack open those glitter bottles and get started…

Phenomenal Pencils

Glitter Pencils

Making your own glitter pencils is quick and easy.  All you need is a regular pencil, any color will do.  Apply a thin layer of glue onto the barrel of the pencil, making sure not to miss any spots.  Before the glue dries, sprinkle glitter on top of the glue.  Let it sit overnight to dry.  Come morning, you’ll have the most glitzy pencil around!  No more plain yellow pencils for you!   If you want to be really adventurous, you could try an ombre effect or even just spot glitter on a designed pencil.

Colorful Candle Holder

Glitter Candle Holder

Glittering glass is always fun cause it makes for a translucent finish.  We made a beautiful candle holder by taking an empty glass jar, a mason jar or baby food jar will work, and painting it with glue all over the inside.  If you would like to make a pattern, make sure you place some stickers or paper silhouettes inside before you paint it.  After you have thoroughly covered the inside with glue, pour in some glitter and shake it all around.  You’ll have to let it dry before you peel off those silhouettes and stickers.   Leaving the stickers inside are perfectly acceptable as well.  We created some fun stickers from our glitter duct tape and some fun shape paper punchers and loved the look of them inside.  While the jar is drying, cut a piece of mounting tape to adhere the tealight to the lid.  Once the entire jar is dry, screw on the lid with the tealight and watch the colors light up the room!   Have some fun and try ombre or use different colors of glitter!  You’ll find that the bright, bold glitter colors will have a different effect with the tealight than the pastel colors.   Whatever colors of the rainbow you decide to use, the candle holder will look amazing and the tealight will enhance the beautiful colors!  You can even use this same technique to glitter a glass cup to turn into a pencil holder.

Ultimate Utility Box

Glitter Utility Box

Why should your utility box be so plain when it stores so many creative items inside?  Use those amazing items inside to unleash your creativity on the outside of the box!  You can use glitter glue pens to personalize it.  Even creating some simple shapes and adding your name can brighten it up and turn your utility box as glam as you are!

Fantastic Frame

Glitter Frame

Everyone loves a good photo booth prop.  It’s easy to make one for each special occasion with just a few supplies.  All you need is a foam board and some glitter pieces.  Cut out a big rectangle on the foam board to turn it into a frame.  Then, we cut out letters and shapes using glitter duct tape, glitter poster boards and metallic poster boards to personalize the frame.  Affix it all onto the frame with glue tape.  Add in a few extra simple glitter circles and it will dazzle your guests.  Now all you need is some smiling, fun-loving guests and you’ll have insta worthy pictures!

Sparkly Slime

Glitter Slime

Everybody loves slime. What better way to jazz up your slime than by adding glitter!

You’ll need glitter, color glue (clear glue and white glue work too), fabric starch, glitter (you can never have too much glitter), gloves, one medium bowl, and something to stir with (craft sticks work great). Make sure that you supervise the kids while doing this craft.

To start, empty the entire bottle of glue (4oz made an ok amount but 8oz was even better) into a medium bowl.  Add a splash of fabric starch and mix.  Use the fabric starch sparingly.  You can always add more but if you add too much, you’ll have to add more glue to fix it, so it’s just easier to add a little fabric starch at a time so you don’t have to work backwards.  Add in some glitter while the mixture is still fluid.  Keep stirring and adding fabric starch as needed until your mixture comes together and is no longer sticking to the bowl.  Once it doesn’t feel sticky anymore, you can pull it out of the bowl. Continue to knead it some more with your hands and you’re done!  If you feel like it is not sparkly enough, go ahead and knead in some more glitter.  There you have it; simple slime for some glittery, gooey fun!

As you can see this is just a small fraction of projects you can do with glitter.  There’s so many things in everyday life that you can glitter and there’s so many different glitter colors to play around with.  The possibilities are endless!  Show off your glitter crafts by tagging us on any of our social media accounts using the hashtag #BazicallyFANtastic for a chance to be featured in our posts.  We can’t wait to see how you sparkle up your life!
