Valentine’s Day is such a special event to show and share the love with everyone around you. It is not just a day of celebration for romantic lovers. It is also for every type of love. It can also be for a mother’s love to her kids, a friend to another friend, or for a student to the teacher.

What’s fun about Valentine’s is that it is also a season of gift giving. Creating and gifting keepsakes for Valentine’s can be a fun activity with the kids. Here are some craft and gift ideas that you can do with the kids for Valentine’s Day.

Handprint Flowers

Create your own cute flowers without waiting for spring to come around. With watercolor or some poster paint, make a bouquet of handprint flowers with the kids. Paint their palms and press their hands gently onto the paper. Repeat until you’ve gotten enough handprint flowers. Cut out the handprints individually. On another sheet of paper, paint some stems. Then, arrange and glue the handprint on top of the stems. You can add and write a simple Valentine’s greetings or messages on the paper to personalize it. Let the kids write their own messages.

Make sure that you have soapy water and cloth ready for after the kids are done making handprints. This is to prevent staining clothes during craft time.

Yarn-Wrapped Heart

This Valentine’s craft can be a holiday décor and a paperweight. It’s so easy to make and your kids will surely enjoy this. Just make sure you have yarns that come in pink and red.
To do this, cut out heart-shaped cardboard. Tape the end of the yarn at the back of the heart and start wrapping the yarn around it until everything is covered. Cut off the yarn and loop it through another yarn at the back of the heart. Repeat the process until you have the desired number of hearts to give away.

Paint Swatch Bookmarks

Upcycling paint swatches can be a cool idea. You can turn it to bookmarks as a Valentine gift. It’s cute and useful. To create this, you’ll need a heart-shaped puncher and some ribbons, as well.

It’s super simple to do. Just pick out a few nice paint color sample strips from your local paint or home improvement store. Pick out shades that you like. Punch out hearts evenly on one side and punch another heart topmost and center of the color section. Reuse the punched-out hearts by gluing them onto the strips at the opposite side. Loop and tie your ribbon on the topmost hole. Viola! You’re done!

Valentine’s Day Cards

Cards are always a staple for every occasion, especially Valentine’s. You can either buy premade cards from the store or make one that’s personalized. The sky is the limit when you’re making your own Valentine cards. You can ask the kids to draw on cards and write their messages inside. They can also cut out figures or add pencils, crayons, and other supplies into the cards for a more creative take. You can ask your kids for inputs so they can create cards of their own liking.
